MossRehab Brain Expert Discusses 'Concussion'
Thomas Watanabe, MD, clinical director of MossRehab's Drucker Brain Injury Center, hopes the new movie "Concussion" brings public awareness about the effects of repeated brain injury- particularly those that don't cause concussions.
"Concussion" follows the story of one professional football player who is diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
"It is sub-concussive, or, blows to the head that don't lead to concussions, that seem to be the greatest risk factor for CTE," Watanabe explained to CBS Philly. "So concussion protocols are good. But they may not have the impact on preventing CTE that some people might think."
